  • This project is underway, and is open to more participating businesses and organisations in Alexandra. Contact Council to find out more.

Project #2 Local FOGO processing

    • Applying for a grant from Victorian State Government’s Community Development Fund to carry out a project to explore feasibility of a local FOGO processing site for Murrindindi.
    • This project, if funded, will be led by the Innovation Working Group with support from Council and in partnership with respected resource recovery business, Repurpose It.

Project #3 – Pyrolysis and Biochar

  • Early concept planning for a Pyrolysis and Biochar Options Paper exploring technologies most suitable for realistic scenarios for the Shire
  • Applying for a grant from Victorian State Government’s Community Development Fund to carry out the project

Overview

The Innovation Working Group see benefit in working to address and repurpose waste of many types within the Shire. This could include reducing food, woody, and agriculture waste in the Shire by providing a facility to convert this waste into a high value compost/biochar product that can be sold at market and educating community on waste management, and how they can contribute to effective waste reduction.

Shaping Murrindindi’s Future project is proudly supported by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, RMIT University and Murrindindi Shire Council.
