INTRODUCTION
Shaping Murrindindi’s Future is a community led project uniting and connecting locals who care about the future of their community. The project encourages creative and innovative thinking towards practical future concepts that will contribute to a thriving outcome for the people who live and work in this region.
This will empower communities who are directly impacted by the transition away from native timber harvesting. In particular, the areas of Marysville, Buxton, Taggerty and Alexandra will identify strengths, assets and develop opportunities for innovative diversification. The project aims to facilitate engagement and collaboration with community, business, local industries, education and government.
Shaping Murrindindi’s Future project focuses on long term goals of the community and encourages open discussions around community support for the future, and diversification of sustainable industries.
The project will identify and research practical opportunities that will contribute to a thriving and positive future for the community.
These opportunities will be discovered through a Smart Specialisation process to collate evidence from local knowledge, expertise, key assets and strengths, and regional statistical data.
Shaping Murrindindi’s Future project is proudly supported by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, RMIT University and Murrindindi Shire Council.
